The species that stand-out are greater flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus), snowy egret (Egretta thula) and grey heron (Ardea cinerea). In the nesting season diversity is lower, especially the pied stilt (Himantopus himantopus) and the Kentish plover (Charadrius alexandrines). In the surrounding areas can be sighted sometimes flocks of spotless starling (Sturnus unicolor) and, in the winter, common starling (Sturnus vulgaris). The mouth of the Mondego is a place of occurrence of ruddy turnstone (Arenaria interpres).

Additional Information: The activity includes guide, transportation, and insurance excluding meals and other personal expenses. Takes place along the Mondego River and implies a minimum route of 188km (distance from Uma Casa Portuguesa to the river’s mouth: 94km). The starting time will be defined up to 3 days before the activity and the meeting point is Uma Casa Portuguesa.

Tips: Bring comfortable shoes and clothes (be prepared for the weather: cold, rain or sun) and do not forget your camera.
